Accelerating the startups!

Boost is an initiative by the ETH Entrepreneur Club and ETH juniors designed to help ETH-affiliated startups transition from concept to incorporation. Following a competitive selection process, 10 early-staged startups are matched with experienced mentors at the Kickoff Event, scheduled for March 25th, 2025. This marks the start of an intensive program featuring workshops and personalized counseling. Throughout the program, startups refine their pitches and business cases in preparation for the Final Event —a public pitching competition in front of a live audience and a jury of distinguished experts from the startup ecosystem. This year, the stakes are higher than ever, with startups competing for a prize pool of 40,000 CHF. But that's not all, the top 3 startups also secure spots in the Startup Campus incubator program, while the top 5 gain access an array of Startup Campus resources!

2023 Winner: qCella

QCella impregnates natural fibers with copper and use them to develop heating mats with superior properties compared to commercially available heating wires. The mats have the proper electrical resistance across the entire structure so that they heat homogeneously when connected to a power source (e.g., a battery). The thinness and smoothness of the heating mats allow for more energy-efficient heating by eliminating the need for a heat-losing upholstery layer between mat and human body. The heating mats can be cut into any shape and size and are easily and cost-effectively integrated into the final heated product.
